Latest Poll: Would you Approve of a Stadium Move?
By Deadly Submarine
November 10 2008
In the wake of the recent visit by Rovers fans to Milton Keynes Dons’ swanky new Stadium:MK, we have decided to use our site poll for this month to ask you what your views would be should Rovers announce a move to a new Stadium at some point in the future.

Article Header - Poll Launch

Of the 400+ Rovers fans who travelled to Milton Keynes recently, very few would have failed to be impressed by the almost brand new Stadium:MK which has been the Dons new home since last season.

Other recent visits to new Stadia including Doncaster's Keepmoat last season and Leicester's Walkers Stadium earlier this season continue to raise the question as to whether football stadia have lost their character as new ones are built or whether a new Stadium is the way forward for many more Clubs.

  Stadium Tranmere      Stadium Swansea

Could this.............................                 ........become This for Tranmere?

So if Tranmere Rovers FC were to ponder a Stadium move what would your opinion be on the matter?  For the purpose of this poll, the nitty gritty such as the location and size of the new Stadium should probably be glossed over as we just want to find out what your thoughts would be in principle to a Stadium move.

To register your vote you can find the latest poll on most pages of this website, usually on the bottom of the left hand side menu or at the bottom of the main news page.

Every vote is important in determining opinions when the results are announced in a few weeks time so make sure you cast your vote now.

Don't get me wrong a stadium like MK would be nice, but im very happy with the stadium we have, we can't fill this one as it is, plus i still think Prenton Park is one of the best in this league.

And i love the fact the stadium is only 2 minutes away from mine, and is'nt hard to get to.

I would approve of a stadium move (I love the modern arenas on display today); but, as with everything, there would be a multitude of obstacles in the decision process (the usual such as funding and location). I agree with Liam's comment about being unable to fill Prenton Park as it is. Would any such funding be better spent on improving the team/squad into a championship/promotion winning team to encourage the fans to turn up to fill the current stadium before trying to finance something so big?

I'm kind of on the fence really.

I would also be in favour of staying at Prenton Park if we had a new Main Stand built but at the same time it's facilities (outside of football) are not suited to the current financial times either.

Building a new stadium is not suited to current financial times.

why do we need a new stadium? :s:s:s

Prenton Park is a really good ground for this level, the only problem we have is the noise generated is at the wrong end oof the ground because of the natural acoustics of the cowshed.

It doesn't create any money on a non-match day, that's the problem, and it's a big one

Take the ricoh arena, its got a gym which is open to the public(which i attend) its got a casino its gor exhibition hall where oasis will be playing next year and bon jovi and bryan adams have played there in the past. There making alot of money and if tranmere could make an arena it would be brilliant, ont he other hand i believe prenton park is as good as most stadiums in our league and therefore dont really need a new stadium despite the modernised stadiums taking the spotlight. Funding would be difficult and im not sure wed build over ingleborough as we can make a fair amount of money off that.

We don't want an arena as such, far from it, I'd hate us to play at an arena because they are concrete blocks of @#$%&. Doncaster is the prime example. No character, no atmosphere and far to far from the pitch. It was rubbish going there, MK Dons was only slightly better for the padded seats.

What we need is a stadium similar to ours now (if we have to move, as we don't need to), just with much more non-match day money making things. For example, we need conference facilities, we need our bar facilities to be better, a park and ride system into Birkenhead or Liverpool town centres, just stuff like that which would make the club some extra money. A new Main Stand is really all* that is needed.

*I say all, but it would cost a lot of money!

I believe the Ricoh also hosted the Darts Premier League last year too by the way!

I think James mean an arena added onto the ground? Like MK Dons had.

Yeah I think he did.

As far as I can think, it's only the Coventry and MK that have such Stadiums with Arena's attached?
