Rovers made it 2 wins in 3 away games as they begin to hit some good form on the road. Ian Moore opened the scoring after 1 minute and another Ryan Shotton goal sealed the win. Danny Grahams late goal counted for nothing as Rovers were the better team at Brunton Park.

Ronnie decided to change the formation ahead of this game, knowing how strong Carlisle normally are at home he decided on a 4-5-1 formation with George O’Callaghan coming in for Chris Greenacre. So the team looked like this

It was a dream start for the visitors, as Andy Taylor crossed and on the turn Ian Moore netted, his shot taking a deflection off the defender and beat the keeper to give Rovers the lead after 52 seconds.  

The goalkeeper Williams then kept out Eddy Sonko’s header as Rovers dominated early on. Sonko then volleyed wide from 18 yards minutes later.

On 24 minutes Marc Bridge-Wilkinson fired over from 30 yards for Carlisle’s first real chance. Ian Moore then drove goalwards and Williams could only tip his shot around the post. Taylor then put the corner onto Antony Kay’s head but he headed wide.

Taylor for Carlise and Sonko for Rovers both shot over as the half came to an end, a half which Rovers had controlled, with Carlisle’s players were booed off at half time.

Half Time: Carlisle 0-1 Tranmere

The first chance of the second half fell to Steve Jennings, O’Callaghan sent him through but he shot wide from a tight angle.

Kay then sent Moore through but his shot came back off the crossbar and away from danger. Sonko and Jennings both had half chances as Rovers continued to be on top.

Midway through the second half both teams made a change, Gareth Edds replace O’Callaghan for Rovers and Jennison Myrie-Williams joined the action for Carlisle.

Edds first contribution was to set up Kay, who volleyed wide. Edds then had a chance of his own; his shot produced a fine save from Williams.

With 10 minutes remaining Rovers got the second they had been looking for, Taylors corner was cleared but Moore put it back in the box and Ryan Shotton got there ahead of Williams to flick the ball in.

Carlisle got one back in the 93^rd minute Graham tapping in after the ball came back off the post. Rovers deserved the clean sheet but the 3 points was the main thing.
