Tranmere R 0 - 1 Oldham A
Weather Report
Considering the weather the day before, the matchday weather was good in the build up to the game although as the game progressed the weather, like Rovers chances of getting anything deteriorated somewhat.
Crowd
6,082 were in attendance at the game but given that between 1000-1500 Oldham fans were included in that number, it was a disappointing turnout from a Rovers point of view.
Referee Watch - Andy Hall (West Midlands)
Ten yellow cards, six of them for Rovers players somewhat sums up the referee although that wasn't the whole story. The disallowed goal was down to his assistant on the Main Stand side and the booking of Ian Moore that followed was correct but the man in the middle was inconsistent and on the whole very poor - 4/10
Best Moment
Hard to find anything to call the best moment in a pretty drab game but for many the first half sending to the Stands of Oldham Boss John Sheridan was a highlight of sorts.
Worst Moment
The second half performance was awful but the goal we conceded would be the worst moment of the game closely followed by the disallowed Rovers goal.
Tranmere Man of the Match
Ben Chorley - Apart from the goal conceded the defence did well and Chorley was at the heart of that, with his first half super block springing to mind. Danny Coyne also has a good game excluding the goal.
Connections
The obvious connection between the two sides today was Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore but the one that everyone will be talking about is Reuben Hazell who netted the winner for Oldham against his former employers.
Oldham Fans
Over 1000 Oldham fans made the trip to see their now table topping team and at times they made themselves heard - especially when addressing Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore.
Summary
Rovers can count themselves unlucky to have been 1-0 behind at half time after a decent enough performance in the opening 45 minutes but the second half was a different story and Rovers were hardly in the game although an equaliser would not have been unjust for the game as a whole.
Entertainment Value
About as un-entertaining as it gets and despite a decent first half performance it was still a pretty poor game to watch 5/10
