By Deadly Submarine September 6 2008
This morning's Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw has resulted in Rovers facing Crewe twice at Prenton Park in the space of a few weeks in October after the Railwaymen were handed the short Cup visit to face Tranmere in the second round of the tournament.

The draw for the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy has just been made this morning and has once again handed Rovers a home tie, this time against fellow League One side Crewe Alexandra.

As well as signalling an earlier than expected return to Prenton Park for Calvin Zola if he is fit for the game, the draw also means that Rovers will play host to Alex twice in the space of three weeks in October.

The second round ties are to be played in the week commencing 6th October and just a few weeks later, Crewe again travel to Prenton Park for a Friday night League One fixture on 24th October.

Rovers of course progressed through to the second round of this cup competition following a 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley last week thanks to a goal from Edrissa Sonko in the second half.

Crewe had a more comfortable scoreline to get them through to the next round as they beat Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield 3-0 thanks to goals from Schumacher, Jones and O'Donnell.

Any ticket news will be published on here as we get it so stay tuned.

I'd take any draw at home - satisfied.

Agreed. Any home game will do I suppose and we could do worse than Crewe.
