Last Saturday's home game against Northampton saw the latest issue of the Rovers' Fanzine ‘Give Us An R' go on sale to supporters and after picking up my copy of the September and October edition (Issue 49), I can once again highly recommend it to any avid Rovers' Fans.
This issue has yet another striking front cover featuring a picture of Ian Moore taken during the pre-season friendly at Marine in July.
The fanzine has four more reports on Rovers' away days including the last two games of last season at Huddersfield and Northampton and the Swindon and Grimsby games from the early part of this season. There is also a smaller write-up on the recent visit to the Walkers Stadium.
An interesting section in the Letters page looks at honouring arguably Tranmere's most important figure in their history, Johnny King, with some kind of statue or re-naming of the Main Stand after him - a campaign which would surely amass much support.
Arguably the best section of this latest issue though is saved until the end with a repeat print of an article from a past fanzine issue about the Anglo Italian Cup which Rovers took part in during the 1990's.
This issue features the first part of the story of the author's trip to watch Rovers play away against Reggina in the competition and provides some fascinating snippets about following Rovers including flying on the same plane as the team to get to the game as well as a look at the Stadium in which the game was played.

The Cover of the Latest Issue (Issue 49) of the Rovers Fanzine
As someone old enough to remember hearing about the Anglo-Italian Cup as a youngster but not old enough to have had the experience of travelling to the games, this feature is a great read and the end of the article promises that the second half of the story featuring the match against Reggiana itself will follow in a future issue. I look forward to that already!
At just £2.00, ‘Give Us An R' is a worthwhile purchase for any avid Rovers' Fan so if you have perhaps thought about buying it before but never got round to it, why not make this issue your first one? We can highly recommend it as a publication written by fans for fans and with no connection in its content to the Club itself, giving views that you may not otherwise see in a matchday programme.
It can be bought at all Rovers home matches from Dave who positions himself on the left hand side of the road entrance to the Main Car Park at Prenton Park on the bit of waste ground on the opposite side of the entrance to the Mersey Clipper Pub (Dave is usually standing just under the Board which shows the next few matches that are due to be played at Prenton Park).
Dave is also at almost all Rovers away matches during the season, standing somewhere near the away turnstiles selling the Fanzine so why not find him at Prenton Park on Saturday at the Oldham game or at the Galpharm Stadium in Huddersfield in a weeks time?
