Accrington Stanley Match Thread

At Total Tranmere, we always like to take note of feedback from the users of the site and respond to it in the best way we can.  One thing we have picked up on more recently is that after Tranmere games there seem to be a lot of different threads that get started about the same game.

As a result of this feedback, from now on we will be introducing Match Threads for every occasion when Tranmere play.

Tranmere are of course at home to Accrington Stanley today but if you're not going to the game, why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.  Or why not post the line-ups or anything else you can think of.

Why not also use this facility to discuss other games and scores that kick-off at 7.00pm which may or may not have an effect on Tranmere too.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Good result tonight against a mediocre Stanley side. The new lad Shotton had a decent game at right back and the midfield seemed content and comfortable.

Well worked goal Curran working tirelessly as he does every game and planting it in the space for Sonko to run on to and rifle past the keeper. Savage was again another work horse trying to involve Shukes on the right.

Not the best of performances, then again its the JPT but its the result that matters and good to be in the draw for the second round.

A terribly boring encounter between two increadibly average sides who looked like they didn't really want to be there.

Niether 'keeper was worked particularly hard through-out and to be honest it was easy to see why, as the final ball from both teams was dire, Sonko in particular picking passes far, far too late, or just hitting them wrong, whilst Kay cost us possession too much.

Shuker looked better than Saturday, good to get 90 minutes under him, almost, and he put some good balls into the box, but he still needs to try and beat his man.

I thought the defence did well. Andy Taylor started shakily, indeed I was less than impressed by him first 20 or so minutes, but second half he was outstanding and probably our main attacking threat.

Elsewhere, Shotton and Waterfall both looked good and solid, Shotton more so in my opinion, with both winning plenty of headers.

In the midfield, I was really impressed with Georgie. Yes, he drifts in and out of games, and yes he does play some sloppy passes, but when he gets it right, it's spot on. Some of his lovely little flicks and touches today were wonderfull, only for others to mess it up. At times I would like him to keep it more simple though!

I'm sorry though, I still can't rate Sonko. His first touch is poor and he wastes possession so much with terrible passes or finishes. Perhaps a goal today though will raise his confidence, and I hope it does, because he has the potential to be good.
