Today Tranmere take on Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium in their opening game of the 2008/09 season. Discuss all your pre-match views, your thoughts after the game and if you won't be at the Walkers Stadium today then why not post updates on our game and all others concerning us, as Tranmere look to start the new season in style.
Leicester City Match Thread

At Total Tranmere, we always like to take note of feedback from the users of the site and respond to it in the best way we can.  One thing we have picked up on more recently is that after Tranmere games there seem to be a lot of different threads that get started about the same game.

As a result of this feedback, from now on we will be introducing Match Threads for every occasion when Tranmere play.

Tranmere are of course away at Leicester City today for their opening game of the season but if you're not going to the game, why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.  Or why not post the line-ups or anything else you can think of.

Why not also use this facility to discuss other League One games and scores that kick-off at 3.00pm which may or may not have an effect on Tranmere too.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

We played Ok today, and in my opinion 3-1 flattered them a little bit. But Ronnie is right in what he said after the game, set pieces have cost us. We were the better of the two sides before they scored, with some nice passing moves but we really do lack that cutting edge in front of goal, whereas the difference today was they didn't. on another note their fans were disgusting today, and should be ashamed.

Good first half! I think we build up for too long now and the move eventually seems to die down! And with that last goal defending was shocking... not good.... much improvement needed... good performances from andy taylor, gareth edds, steve jennings and greenacre set the goal up excelently when he came on and a good goal from shuker! Still not good enough... so lets improve! And i completely agree with their disgraceful chants at our injured fan... but i could see if that happened at our place i think some of our numb skulls would do that too... but it has no place in football and is completely disrespectful... as was matty fryatts challenge on andy taylor, couldnt believe he wasnt sent off!

Hey, a Leicester fan here, overall we probably deserved the win, I can only apologise for our fans behaviour towards your ill fan. I enjoy standing and singing at/with away fans but I stopped siging hen I saw it was dierected towards your ill fan. Enjoy the rest of the season, except when we visit you of course!

Thanks for that Adam - it somewhat spoilt a decent game of football that incident and your fans really.

Our fan who broke his leg/ankle was in a right mess apparently and there was blood everywhere up on the top part of the steps where it happened.

As for the game, it was a great one and I havn't seen us play as well as that for quite a while.

We just didn't create enough chances to get the draw that some may feel we deserved just for the way we played.

We didn't get torn apart like I expected us too but sadly we lost it on two set-pieces before being caught for the third as we pushed for an equaliser after Shuker had scored.

On the whole a good performance particularly in the first 20 minutes but yet more work needed defensively and we need to start shooting more instead of messing around with the ball in key areas.

I don't know what the Leicester Fan above thinks but I felt Matty Fryatt should not have been on the field to score that third goal. His challenge on Taylor looked late, two footed and high and looked a certain red card at the time?

Tranmere fan living in leicester....it's a nightmare!!! I thought we bossed the first 20 minutes until their goal and the last 20 after the substitutions. We played football like we did under johnny King until the penalty area where we lacked ideas. Having said that leicester fans were impressed with Bas. The local paper and their manager are all saying it was a great win for them that they may not have deserved....'winning dirty', which we need to be able to do. I think our performance showed real promise and the finishing 11 looked a good combination. With regards to the fans they are not the nicest at leicester but I wish we would get behind the team rather than have a go at the opposition fans which we had been doing even before the unfortunate incident with the hurt fan. We need to ignore their idiots and really get behind the boys so we win on the pitch and shut their fans up!
