Australian Edds, was Ronnie Moore's first signing of the summer of 2008 and arrived at Prenton Park from Milton Keynes Dons after four seasons there, a spell which saw both a relegation and then promotion back to League One in his final season at the Club.
The 27 year-old from Sydney began his career at Nottingham Forest where he spent four years before moving on free transfer to Swindon Town and then on to Bradford, spending a year at each of those Clubs before moving to MK Dons in 2004.
Perhaps the biggest highlight of Edds' playing career came against Tranmere when he netted two goals on the final day of the 2004-05 season as MK Dons beat Rovers 2-1 to survive relegation to League Two although the year after that Tranmere relegated them with a 2-1 win of their own.
Edds has already proved in pre-season that he is capable of getting goals from midfield, netting four times in two matches including a hat-trick against Heswall in the 6-2 win.
