After the departure of Calvin Zola to Crewe in the summer of 2008, Ronnie Moore found his replacement target man in the shape of Bas Savage who at the age of just 26, made Tranmere the eighth Club of his career.

Starting out as a trainee at Reading, Savage who is famous for his ‘moonwalk' goal celebration, had loan spells at Wycombe and Bury for signing for Bristol City in November 2005.

At the start of the following season, after just fifteen appearance and one goal at Ashton Gate, Bas joined Gillingham where he spent four months before joining Brighton and Hove Albion in January 2007.

Savage spent just over twelve months at Brighton before joining fellow League One side Millwall for the remainder of the 2007-08 season but in the summer, after being told he was not in the regular first team plans at the New Den, Savage was snapped up by Ronnie Moore.
