Let the Fun Begin as Play-Offs Commence
By Deadly Submarine May 9 2008
We take a look ahead to the Football League Play-Offs which begin tonight.when Doncaster Rovers travel to Southend in the first of the League One first-legs at Roots Hall. Play-Offs in the Championship and League Two follow over the weekend before the final League One game on Monday evening.
Play-Offs – Let the Fun Begin!

Today sees the start of exciting times at the business end of the season as the end of season play-off games begin later tonight with Southend Utd hosting Doncaster Rovers at Roots Halls (7.45pm) in the first of six play-off first leg games this weekend.

That League One tie is followed on Saturday by clashes in both the Championship as Crystal Palace host Bristol City (12.15pm) and in League Two as Darlington play host to Rochdale (5.45pm).

Either side of the Premier League's final day fixtures on Sunday afternoon, Watford host Hull City in the Championship (12.00pm) and Wycombe host Stockport (6.00pm) in League Two before the final first leg game sees Leeds host Carlisle United at Elland Road on Monday evening (7.45pm).

As for who will win through to a Wembley final, it really is anyone's guess but there are sure to be a number of twists and turns in the next ten days before the three sets of finalists are decided.

In the Championship, Bristol City who only won promotion from League One last season, will be eager to make it two promotions in as many years but Crystal Palace, managed by former Sheffield United Manager Neil Warnock stand in their way.

Stadium Carlisle

Brunton Park, Carlisle will host the second leg in League One

Hull City who were promoted to the Championship three seasons ago from League One have to overcome more recent Premier League opposition in Watford if they are to take a step nearer to the promised land.

In League One, many Rovers fans will be hoping that Leeds United go on to win the play-offs with a view to an easier time in the League next season but Southend Utd, Carlisle Utd and Doncaster Rovers will have a say in the outcome.

Rochdale, who are dubbed as the most static team in the Football League having not been promoted or relegated for a long time, will be hoping this will be their year in League Two but near neighbours Stockport County will also be hoping to make a relatively quick return to League One.

Wycombe and Darlington are the other two teams in contention and both will be looking towards away trips to the Walkers stadium in Leicester next season as an incentive for promotion.

I would love Donny to win it they deserve it, they were the best footballing side i have seen at Prenton Park this season plus i would Love to see Gareth Roberts to achieve something, plus if they go up they will release him then hopefully we might get him as a replacement for Davies. Also i want my mate Gareth Taylor to do well i think he deserves something after the stick he got from our scummy fans.

I don't want Doncaster to go up on the basis that it's a short journey. Would prefer Leeds or Southend to go!

What a great game the Championship game was just now!

Great strike by Noble for Bristol City and a well worked first goal for them too!
