Rovers Eye Top Flight Opponents
Ronnie Moore confirmed today that he is lining up the best possible opposition for Rovers' pre-season campaign in July and August with requests made to no fewer than five Premiership Clubs with regard to a possible home friendly prior to the start of the 2008-09 League campaign.
In an interview with the Daily Post, Moore revealed that despite this season only finishing last Saturday with the 2-1 defeat at Northampton Town, plans were already in motion for Tranmere's pre-season campaign with games at home to top quality opposition the number one priority.
Moore told the Daily Post............
"It gets harder every season to attract Premiership opposition for friendlies here but that's what we are trying to do.
"We've asked Liverpool and Everton and we're waiting for them to come back to us. We would love to have them at Prenton Park. We might get 9,000 people through the gate for a game with one of the big two from across the water and that would give us a valuable financial boost. They are the teams you want in terms of bringing revenue into the club."
"We've asked Stoke City to come back and play us again. They were here last summer and it turned out to be quite lucky for them because they won promotion from the Championship this week."

Benitez and Moyes to Prenton Park?
"Bolton were here last year and they are probably going to be a Premier League side again next season. We are waiting on replies while the Premier League teams have another weekend of matches to play. Then hopefully they will have a better idea of what they are going to do in the summer."
"It's all down to the times they want to play. Premiership teams tend to be in demand abroad during the close season these days."
Tranmere's pre-season campaign usually ventures no further than Morecambe, with mostly local games against League Two or non-league opposition.
The likelihood is hat these local games will take place again this pre-season but the added spice of one or maybe more Premiership teams visiting Prenton Park will be a much needed financial boost and something special to look forward too.
Stay tuned to Total Tranmere in the coming weeks for all the pre-season friendly news as we get it. We will update the pre-season fixture list every time a new match is added to it so don't go away!
