After another decent performance from Antony Kay in the 1-0 home win over Southend United on Saturday, this time in the centre of midfield, Ronnie Moore sang the praises of his summer signing from last season when speaking to Tranmere World earlier today.

He told Tranmere World...................

"Kaysy is a top class footballer.  He's a footballing centre half who wants to get on the ball and play.  He could play right back or centre midfield so he gives us similar options to Shane Sherriff.  A squad our size needs players like that."

He's our second highest scorer playing at the back and I might just persevere with him in the centre of midfield at Northampton alongside Paul McLaren.  I'll not be tinkering too much with players, we won't be far from the side which played last Saturday."

"It's going to be hard, Northampton are a big strong side who pass it.  Both sides have nothing to play for but we want to win.  Every game you play you want to win."

"If we win on Saturday we finish eighth, simple as that.  That's where we want to finish. I wanted a second goal on Saturday, if we'd got that young Terry Gornell would have come on.  His upper body strength has improved.  He has worked hard with Shaun (Garnett) and he's got a chance.  How far he goes is up to him.  He's a goalscorer, and he's six foot with a bit of growth left in him as well. I'm pleased with the progress he's making."
