Weather Report

A very cold day up in Yorkshire saw Rovers get beat 1-0 at the hands of Huddersfield.  Twenty minutes into the game, the rain also decided to join in with the cold weather but only lasting around seven minutes.

Crowd

8,315 were inside the Galpharm Stadium which has a capacity of 24,500.  Of those fans who were inside the former Alfred McAlpine Stadium, 491 of them were Rovers fans.  With the atmosphere being fairly quiet in the first half the Super White Army outsang the Huddersfield support, however in the second half things starting to get lively as the atmosphere became loud as both sets of supporters were getting behind their team.

Referee Watch

Steve Bratt (West Midlands) - The referee Steve Bratt had a fairly solid game, getting most decisions right, however the downfall was not booking Huddersfield striker Malvin Kamara who made three fouls in just under 25 minutes in the first half.

Best Moment

After a disappointing afternoon, Rovers fans finally found out Tranmere could not achieve a play-off place mathematically, so there were not too many good moments.  However the best moment could possibly have been Terry Gornell making the first team bench for the first time in the League.

Worst Moment

The worst moment of today was seeing our fans turning on Ronnie Moore, calling for him out, after most Rovers fans are fully behind him and his stick he received was clearly undeserved.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Ian Goodison - Despite rovers playing well, half of the players didn't exactly shine.  However Rovers centre-back Ben Chorley had a solid game, whilst Danny Coyne made some good saves when tested. The man of the match for Rovers today though was Ian Goodison the skipper who made some great tackles and was dominant in the air all game when the Huddersfield attack pressured.

Opposition's Main Man

Andy Booth - Has to be the experienced front man Andy Booth as the striker scored the only goal of the game and played some clever pieces of play at times.  The veteran striker was rewarded with a goal for his performance.

Connections

Former Huddersfield favourite Adnan Ahmed was not selected on the bench, However Ian Moore got stick at times because of him formerly playing for Huddersfield's arch rivals Leeds.

Huddersfield Fans

Pretty poor turnout considering their stadium holds 24,500.  The first half was extremely quiet and the home support were that quiet that Rovers fans decided to chant "We forgot that you were here".  However in the second half the fans started to get behind the Terriers and had good banter with the travelling Rovers fans.

Summary

The scoreline was harsh for Rovers, the first half was extremely poor with the ball generally being 'hoofed ' away and the ball being in midfield most of the first half, it was that boring that Total-Tranmere's Italian Gino Angelo Veste was considering getting his snooker balls out for some entertainment (private joke).

The scoreline was very harsh considering Rovers' second half dominance in possession, Tranmere had most of the ball but struggled to get the ball in the final third of the pitch.

Overall it's a heartbreaking day for Rovers fans who had high hopes for the play-offs.  There's always next season and hopefully Tranmere can keep faith in Ronnie's ability and the fans can get behind them.  However myself and others are satisfied with this season's performances, however making the day worst was the unsurprising chants of the odd one or two Rovers fans who decided to act stupidly calling for "Ronnie Out".

Entertainment Value

A lifeline was offered to Tranmere today if Leeds got beat and Tranmere managed to scrape a win, despite it being a big game as Rovers must of won the remaining three games to get in the play-offs, not enough chances through on goal was the problem for rovers, whilst the first half being rather boring -5/10
