Out of Contract
Out of Contract Players
Robbie Stockdale

Robbie was brought in by Ronnie Moore on a two year contract in June 2006 and has been Rovers first choice right back ever since. There is never much competition for his place but that has never affected his performance as he is always solid and committed.
He has made over 80 appearances for Tranmere so far and if he stays on next year will surely make it to his 100th game for the Club at some point next season.
As a right-back, Robbie is yet to score for us but has threatened occasionally particularly in recent weeks. He mainly concentrates on his defending and in my opinion he does it quite well.
Paul McLaren

Macca is seen by many as the best passer of the ball in League 1 and in almost every game he shows why people think that way. He can pick out a pass from anywhere and sets up many goals from his set-pieces and this season he has 12 assists and 4 goals.
There is one player in particular he has set up more than most with five of Antony Kay's six goals this season coming from Paul McLaren set-pieces.
As you can see he has been a vital member of the squad since he signed a two year contract back in June 2006. He has appeared for Rovers 90 times and in two seasons that is a fantastic record, meaning he has played in nearly every Tranmere game over the last two years.
Shane Sherriff

Shane has become Tranmere's Mr Versatile this season having played in so many positions for various reasons and has filled in wherever has been needed.
His favourite position is probably at left-back but he has played most of this season at left midfield and fills in at centre midfield or centre-back as well when needed.
He gets a bit of stick from the fans as some feels he is a bit lazy, but he is a handy squad member and like McLaren, has played over 90 games for Rovers scoring nine goals in the process.
Shane has also proved that he isn't bad at free-kicks either, curling in a perfect set-piece away at Hartlepool earlier this season. He was signed by Moore from a Danish team called Aarhus after he had previously been at Leeds United as a youngster.
Steve Davies

When this season began, Steve Davies looked likely to be an early contender for player of the Season but an injury at the end of September of course ruled him out for the rest of the season up until now.
Many fans will argue that had Davies remained fit and playing, he may not even be a Tranmere Player now as interest in him at the start of season from elsewhere suggested he may be on the move in January.
His injury put an end to that but now he is due to be out of contract anyway and could instead leave for free unless Tranmere make him an offer that he won't turn down.
Steven Jennings

Since returning from a lengthy loan spell at Hereford United last season, Jennings has looked a different player to the one that left for Edgar Street.
Arguably the Player of the Season this time around, the retaining of both Jennings and McLaren seems essential for next season.
John Mullin

This season John has struggled to get into the first team since the dramatic improvement of youngster Steve Jennings. Mullin has also had an operation on his ankle earlier this season which kept him out for about three months.
The 31 years old has bags of experience after playing at centre midfield since the 1993-94 season. Last season he made 42 appearances and scored five goals but this season he didn't hit any good form and has only started four times so far and been a used substitute on seven occasions. Ronnie Moore signed Mullin after working with him for a number of years at Rotherham United.
Jennison Myrie-Williams

Jennison has been on loan at Prenton Park for a large part of this and has been mainly impressive. He is a left sided winger but has played most of his Rovers games at right midfield, causing him to cut in a lot and become rather predictable, but he certainly has pace, can frighten defenders and he can sometimes change the game.
He is on loan from Bristol City but they currently sit top of the Championship and if they go up Jennison may well become available. Since he has been at Tranmere he has played 26 times and scored three including a quality goal at Elland Road against Leeds United.
So whose contracts will be renewed and who will be released? To some extent it all depends what League Rovers will be playing in next season although it now seems more than likely it will yet again be League One.
It's possible that Paul McLaren, Steven Jennings and Shane Sherriff will still be here next year, but there could be questions over John Mullin's future as well as that of Robbie Stockdale who it is rumoured is on his way out of the Club in the Summer.
Whether Jennison Myrie-Williams will be here permanently next year remains to be seen and perhaps depends on what happens with Steve Davies.
Ultimately of course, the future of all of the above mentioned Players' contracts boils down to the renewal of one contract - that of manager Ronnie Moore who is also out of contract this Summer with no sign so far of any activity on that front.
Total Tranmere will keep you informed of any developments on the Contract front throughout the Summer months so stay tuned to see how the squad takes shape for next season.
