Signature Tips and Help Guide

The Admin Team for Total Tranmere have had a few requests asking why Signatures don't work on the Site since the new version came out and the answer is that there is a default setting that needs changing.

Below is a User Guide to Creating and Editing your Forum Signatures and a guide to how to make the Signatures appear on your posts as you make them.

Signature Editing Tips and Advice

To Add or Edit a Signature:

1) Click on Control Centre (top right corner of screen when logged in on Sportnetwork).

2) Click on Edit My Profile and then in the box on the right hand side fill in the content of your required Signature.

3) Click Submit Button.

To Make Signature Text Bold:

Insert [b] before the text you wish to make Bold and [/b] after the text as shown below.....

[b]Sample Text[/b]

To Make Signature Text Underlined:

Insert [u] before the text you wish to Underline and [/u] after the text as shown below.....

[u]Sample Text[/u]

To Make Signature Text Italic:

Insert [i] before the text you wish to make Italic and [/i] after the text as shown below.....

[i]Sample Text[/i]

To Add a Weblink to Your Signature:

Insert [url= before the weblink you wish to include and ]link[/url] after the weblink as shown below.....

[url=http://www.google.com]link[/url]

To Add an Image to your Signature:

Insert [img] before the URL (web address) of the Image you wish to use and [/img] after the URL as shown below.....

[img]www.myimage.co.uk[/img]

NOTE: For Image to work it must have a URL (web address) so any Images of your own from you PC or Hard Drive must be uploaded to the web using an online Photo Storage facility such as Photobucket or Flickr.  Once you have done this it will give your Image a URL which you can use here.

Including a Signature in Your Forum Posts

One you have created a Signature (as above) there are two options for including a Signature in your Message Forum Posts.....

Include Your Signature in Every Post on a Permanent Basis:

  • 1) Click on Control Centre (top right corner of screen when logged in on Sportnetwork).
  • 2) Click on Forum Settings.
  • 3) In the box on the right hand side next to the Enable "Add my signature" as default option, select Yes from the drop down menu (to reverse this option at any time re-select No)
  • 4) Click Submit Button.

NOTE: After selecting the default option using the instructions above, your Signature will only appear in any posts made after carrying out the above and not on any posts made before that.

Include Your Signature on Selected Posts Only:

If you do not choose the above default option, you can still select to use your Signature only in selected posts of your choice in the following way.....

When posting on a Thread on the Message Forum simply tick the box underneath the subject heading where it says add my signature to this post and you Signature will appear on that post only.
