Still Injured!
Walsall Vs Tranmere R
Saturday 5th April 2008 – Kick-Off 3.00pm
Coca-Cola League One at Bescot Stadium
As the road trips for the season draw to a close as the season nears its end, the trips that Rovers have left are all within a reasonable distance of travel starting with Saturday’s tripto the Bescot Stadium in Walsall.
The Saddlers still have a distant shout of making the play-off places and currently sit five points behind Rovers who occupy the last play-off spot in sixth place. The Saddlers have a game in hand on Rovers as well as having to play them in this game.
The hosts go into the game on the back of a run of six games without a win although five of those games have been against teams in the top eight of the table. The other game in the sequence of six was a 1-0 reverse at home to relegation threatened Crewe Alexandra on Easter Monday.
On the same day as Walsall lost at home to Crewe, Tranmere were going down 2-1 at another relegation threatened team, Bournemouth but Rovers bounced back last Friday night by beating Swindon Town 2-1 in dreadful conditions at Prenton Park.
That result put Rovers back into the play-off places and after results on Saturday went their way, they maintained that postion going into this trip to the West Midlands.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, the game ended 0-0 back in October and the same result occurred last time the two sides met at the Bescot Stadium two seasons ago prior to the Saddlers relegation.
A win for Rovers will be vital going into the home game with Nottingham Forest a week on Saturday but a defeat will see Walsall as well as other teams gain ground on them in the race to make the play-offs in May.
Enjoy the Game!
Steve Davies, who has been injured since September when he injured his cruciate ligaments in his knee, is the only player that will miss this all important game.
Other than that Ronnie Moore should have a full squad to choose from as it is expected that Chris Shuker will return following a minor injury on his knee, after he had earlier been out for over three months.
