MikeyB interviews Mitchell ahead of the clash between Walsall and Rovers at the Bescot Stadium this coming Saturday (5th April.)
Mikey: What is your name, age and for how long have you supported Walsall?
Mitchell: My name is Mitchell Gray; I am 16 and have supported Walsall since birth!
Mikey: Best moment supporting Walsall?
Mitchell: There have been a few. The 3-2 play-off final victory against Reading is up there, but last seasons final game against Swindon town has to top it just because of the sheer circumstances; having equalised in the last minute of the last game to win the league title was great, the feeling was just unexplainable.
Mikey: Worst moment supporting Walsall?
Mitchell: Probably the year we got relegated into League Two. Come last game of the season, we needed to win and Gillingham to lose. We did win but Gillingham drew, however we had been informed they had lost, so at the final whistle we ran on the pitch celebrating unaware we had been relegated.
Mikey: Who is your all-time favourite Walsall player?
Mitchell: It’s got to be either Jimmy Walker or Dean Keates.
Mikey: Who would you say is Walsall’s “One to Watch”?
Mitchell: Lee Holmes, who is on loan from Derby and plays on left wing. Really good player and I’m confident he will be in Derby’s 1st team next year when they’re back in the Championship.
Mikey: Do you have any youngsters to look out for?
Mitchell: Troy Deeney and Alex Nicholls who are both young forwards are doing excellent at the moment. We did have an exciting winger who goes by the name of Ishmel Demontagnac but he seems to have fallen out with boss Richard Money so I can’t see him playing, which is a shame because he is a really fast and tricky winger.
Mikey: What do you fear could go wrong this season?
Mitchell: Well after being bottom after the 1st 5 games I feared we could be going straight back down, but fair play to the players for staying confident and pushing on.
Mikey: Which player would you personally pay to leave the club?
Mitchell: Ian Roper, over the years he’s been brilliant but recently he’s aged and has started to show and he is unable to keep up with the young tricky forwards of League 1.
Mikey: Is Richard Money the right man for the job?
Mitchell: Yes he is absolutely fantastic long live Dickie Dosh!
Mikey: Which team do you most want to beat this season and if you have played them did you manage to beat them?
Mitchell: Obviously everyone wanted to beat Leeds, which we would have done at home if it was not for a last minute deflected free kick from Alan Thompson to nick Leeds a draw.
Mikey: Most detested opposition player?
Mitchell: Not got one I hate in particular but im not a fan of big headed players such as Ronaldo and Drogba. Everybody knows they’re good players they just need to think about the way they come across to the opposition supporters.
Mikey: Most admired opposition player?
Mitchell: Leeds’ Jermaine Beckford who I think is top class.
Mikey: Where do you see Walsall finishing this season?
Mitchell: After looking like serious play-off contenders, I think we will have to settle for mid table.
Mikey: Do you think either of Tranmere or Walsall will get relegated/promoted this season from their respective Divisions?
Mitchell: I honestly think we will both be here this time next season.
Mikey: Finally, your prediction for today’s game?
Mitchell: My heart tells me Walsall will win 2-0, but my head is telling me Tranmere will win 3-1.
Mikey: Thanks very much Mitchell for answering these questions, it is much appreciated.
