Tranmere Rovers v Swindon Town Match Preview

We bring you the pre-match build-up to the game as Swindon become the next visitors to Prenton Park tomorrow night in Coca-Cola League One. A win is a must if Rovers are to maintain their quickly fading play-off hopes which were damaged further with the defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Coca-Cola League One at Prenton Park

Tranmere are out for revenge as Friday night football comes to Prenton Park for the last time this season tomorrow (unless Rovers make the play-offs and possibly get a Friday Night game then).

The revenge that Ronnie Moore's men hunt comes after Swindon ended Rovers early-season run of form that saw them go ten games unbeaten after the undeserved opening day defeat to Leeds United.

That goal came in the final few minutes of a game in which Rovers deserved at least a draw but went home empty handed.

Rovers are in decent form at home with just one defeat in the last six matches, drawing one and winning four but Swindon have won just once on the road in the last six games having also drawn one and lost four.

As Tranmere found out on Monday though, nothing is guaranteed in League One this season and the expected victory over Bournemouth failed to materialise as they went down 2-1 at the Fitness First Stadium thanks in part to an 38 second own goal from Ian Goodison and then a second killer blow just before half-time after failing to defend a corner.

On the same day, Swindon went down to a 1-0 home defeat against promotion hopefuls Southend United and in their last away match prior to this last Saturday, the Robins threw away an early lead at Brighton to lose 2-1 thanks to a double from Nicky Forster.

A win for Rovers would see them move back into the play-off places overnight before the rest of League One do battle on Saturday and some fans would argue that a win is a must prior to the potentially massive game against Walsall at the Bescot Stadium next week.

Let's make it another great Friday night atmosphere and urge Rovers on to three valuable points.

Enjoy the Game!

Tranmere Team News

Chris Shuker is likely to miss out once again after feeling the effects of his recent knee injury once again this week.

The only other definite absentee is long-term injury victim Steve Davies (knee) but other than that Ronnie Moore has a full squad to choose from.

Match Referee - Steve Tanner (Somerset)
