Bournemouth Vs Tranmere R
Monday 24th March 2008 - Kick-Off 7.45pm
Coca-Cola League One at Fitness First Stadium
Exactly a year ago on Monday, Tranmere travelled to the south coast to face Bournemouth in Coca-Cola League One and put in one of their worst away performances of the season, losing 2-0.
Now exactly a year on, they are in the same location again and will be looking for an improvement this time around following the disaster of last year.
In that game, Rovers went behind to a 13th minute by David McGoldrick before then conceding a second half penalty which James Hayter converted for 2-0. Just nine minutes later it really was game over as Ian Goodison was sent off in what was Rovers' first dismissal all season.
The Cherries are struggling against relegation after having had ten points deducted earlier in the season after slipping into Administration. Even if they still had the ten points they would still just be in the relegation zone after a poor season both on and off the field.
With Rovers still chasing a play-off place after a two home wins on the bounce, fans will be hoping for three points at the Fitness First Stadium ahead of another home game against Swindon next Friday and then a crucial away game against Walsall the week after.
Earlier this season, Tranmere won 3-1 at Prenton Park thanks to goals from Calvin Zola and a Chris Greenacre penalty in the first half and a second half strike from Steven Jennings before Sam Vokes scored a Bournemouth consolation fifteen minutes from time.
The Cherries will be looking for revenge this time around but Rovers will be hoping it will be their day.
Ronnie Moore has a full squad to choose from apart from long-term injury victim Steve Davies (knee).
It seems unlikely that the Rovers Boss will make any changes to the side that beat rock-bottom Port Vale 2-0 on Thursday night unless he decides to hand a recall to striker Calvin Zola or centre-back Antony Kay.
Match Referee - Andy Hall (West Midlands)
