Rovers Earn 3 Points Against Bottom Side Port Vale

First Goalscorer
By MikeyB
March 20 2008
A penalty from Chris Greenacre and another goal from his fellow strike partner, Ian Moore, was enough to give Tranmere the 3 points on a wet and windy night at Prenton Park. Greenacre also missed another penalty, but fortunately Moore wrapped up the points for Rovers. Both penaltys were won by subsitute Jennison Myrie-Williams tricky runs down the right hand side. The wins puts Rovers in 5th spot.

Good win against a weak side. First half was very poor and each side struggled in the conditions but second half we dominated (spare about ten minutes after our first) and we created a number of chances.

When Myrie-Williams came on he scared the @#$%& out of them, he looked to run at them and take the game to them - this wore off on the team. We got the ball down, passed it about, stretched them and created chances. To add to this the attackers Moore and Greenacre, who look to be forging a great parnership upfront, ran the offside trap expertly.

Ben Chorley was really good at the back, winning pretty much everything that came his way whilst the full-backs got forward well (I nearly creamed myself when Stockdale came close) and defended well also.

In all, a comfortable win. They offered very little and Luke Rodgers was shite. Chorley had him in his back pocket.

Hello,

We were shocking last night and our players were an absolute disgrace to our club. To be honest, neither side offered that much in the first half but you were far more determined than us, our side lacked team spitit and we looked like a side already relagated to League 2.

On a brighter note, I would like to thank Tranmere for a fantastic night out, as always your fans were kind, and very friendly towards us. The staff were friendly too, and I hope you get into the play-offs because you are a genuine club, unlike teams like Leeds who definately do not deserve to go up!

Thanks again, I think I'm speaking for certainly our bunch of lads, but probably all Vale fans that went last night.

Thanks Sentinel and good luck in what will now almost certainly be League Two next season.

As for the game, as Matt said the first half was pretty poor in terrible conditions but in the end we deserved to win it by the margin we did.

Rodgers didn't have a prayer against Goodison or Chorley who were both miles taller than him and as at their place back in December they could't finish.

Could have done with Swansea winning today but the results haven't gone all that badly.

Doncaster look out of sight of us already but if they keep slipping against teams that don't affect us then maybe we might reel them in lol!

Finally thanks to Mikey for doing the Stats Article. We as Moderators are having terrible trouble with the Admin Site just at the moment which is affecting the quality and quantity of articles as Mikey said above.

Cheers Mate!
