Tranmere winger Chris Shuker could be in line for at least a place on the substitutes bench this afternoon after making a return to action for the Reserves in midweek against Burnley.
Shuker has been injured since Boxing Day's game against Carlisle after sustaining what was a suspected cruciate ligament injury that would have kept him out for the rest of the season but the injury wasn't as bad as first feared and he already set for a first team return.
The news of his impending return is a big boost to Tranmere's play offs hopes but Shuker will have to battle for the right wing position with Jennision Myrie-Williams which can only be good for the squad with both players keen to be in the first team picture.
Shuker’s midweek return from injury for the Reserves was overshadowed as they lost 2-1 to Burnley Reserves in the Pontins Holiday League Division One.
Shukes played the full ninety minutes of the game, also assisting the only Rovers goal for Terry Gornell. The young striker scored an easy enough goal from twelve yards out to add to his already impressive tally this season..
Burnley equalised on 35 minutes courtesy of an own goal and the visitors secured the win when Alex Rae-Harvey scored from 25 yards out to overshadow Chris Shukers return to action.
On the whole it was a match with very few chances with Terry Gornell and Josh Macauley both having efforts just go wide of the goal.
After the game Shuker said " He was happy with his return to action and that he was satisfied with his performance "
Steven Jennings is also available once again for today’s game against Hartlepool after completing his three match suspension for his red card away at Bristol Rovers – a spell that also saw Rovers fail to win a match.
Steve Davies is on the comeback trail after his cruciate ligament injury but remains out for this game whilst Ian Goodison remains out after the injury picked up at Oldham last Saturday.
