Swansea C Vs Tranmere R
Tuesday 11th March 2008 - Kick-Off 7.45pm
Coca-Cola League One at Liberty Stadium
Games this season won't come any harder for Tranmere as they make the midweek trip to the Liberty Stadium to face the runaway leaders of League One, Swansea City.
Despite a home defeat last Friday night at the hands of struggling Millwall who are currently managed by their former Boss Kenny Jackett, the Swans still look more than likely to win the League sooner rather than later.
Rovers' preparation for this difficult trip couldn't have been any worse with two straight defeats at the hands of Doncaster (at home) and Oldham (away) but perhaps worse is the possibility of losing influential captain Ian Goodison for a number of games after he was stretchered off in the 3-1 defeat at Oldham on Saturday.
Add to that the longer term injuries to Steve Davies and Chris Shuker and the fact that Steven Jennings misses the trip as he serves out the last game of his three match suspension and Rovers chances of a win must look bleak.
Swansea's record both at home and overall is impressive in recent months with the defeat to Millwall being their first in 18 matches whilst they have only lost three times at home all season.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, it was a late own goal from Tranmere's Steven Jennings that earned Swansea a 1-0 win at Prenton Park.
Up to now, Rovers have not yet managed to score at the new Liberty Stadium with Jason McAteer missing a penalty in the first ever League match played at the Ground on the opening day of the 2005-06 season as Rovers lost 1-0.
Last season, the fixture in South Wales ended in goalless draw whilst at Prenton Park, goals from Lee Trundle and ex-Rover Andy Robinson earned the Swans a 2-0 win.
If anyone is making the long Tuesday night trip get behind the lads and hope for the best!
Enjoy the Game!
