Another youngster who has represented Wales at school-boy level, Gerwyn Jones is a centre-back from North Wales and it is his form in defence that has resulted in Ashton Taylor being moved to centre-midfield for pre-season 2008.

A few months younger than Taylor, Jones is another tall defender who is solid in the air and is good in the tackle.  The centre-back is quick on the ground and also comfortable on the ball, whilst he works well when partnered with either Joel Richardson or Ashton Taylor.

Jones was a regular in the U-18s in 2007/08, but only on the fringes of the reserve side, but not a second year scholar, he is bound to appear in more second string matches this season as he continues to improve and develop.

It is widely believed that Jones has already turned down a 5-year contract from American side DC United during the 2006/07 season.
