Signed from Barnsley on a two-year contract in the summer of 2006, Chris Shuker is a tricky winger who has caused problems for a number of League One defences in his two season as Prenton Park.

The 24 year-old from Liverpool began his career at Manchester City before going out on loan to Macclesfield, Walsall, Rochdale and Hartlepool before joining Barnsley in 2004 for a nominal fee.

After helping the Tykes to promotion to the Championship in the 2005-06 season via the play-offs, Shuker moved on and was reportedly a few minutes away from signing for Blackpool before changing his mind and signing for Rovers on a two-year deal.

Part way through the 2007-08 season, Shuker signed a contract extension which keeps him at Prenton Park until the summer of 2009 but last season was something of a disaster for him as he picked up a serious knee injury on Boxing Day which initially suggested he would miss the remainder of the season.

However later tests showed the injury was not as bad as first thought and he was able to return for the closing weeks of the season and will be itching to get backto regular action this coming season.
