Steve Davies shot to the attention of Rovers fans during the 2005 pre-season campaign in which he scored a brace in his first senior appearance against Vauxhall Motors.

The 19 year-old was subsequently linked with a move to Liverpool but after further friendly goals against Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra, he instead signed a three-year professional contract at Tranmere and has since gone on to establish himself almost as a first-team regular last season albeit on the left side of the midfield on the majority of occasions.

With the departure of Kevin Ellison to Chester City in the summer, the 2007-08 season could well be the biggest season of the youngsters career so far as he will look to take the opportunity to make the left-back slot his own as well as possibly pushing for a place in his more preferred striking role.
