Not every League One Club can boast a World Cup Finals captain as part of their squad but in Jamaican defender Ian Goodison, that is exactly what Rovers can boast.
The 34 year-old defender joined Rovers in February 2003 after contacting his former Manager from his Hull City days, Brian Little who by then of course was Manager of Tranmere.
Goodison asked Little if he could come over to train and after paying for his own flights from Jamaica he impressed Little enough to earn a contract until the end of that season before signing a longer deal that summer to remain at Prenton Park.
He scored his first goal for the Club in November 2004 against Blackpool and has since gone on to be the rock at the heart of the Rovers defence for three seasons. He can always be relied on to clear danger, sometimes in a more spectacular fashion than is necessary.
He captained his country in the 1998 World Cup Finals in Japan and adds much experience to what is now a relatively young Rovers back-line.
