Gareth signed a two year contract with Rovers in the summer 2006 when Ronnie Moore snapped him up on a free transfer following his release from Nottingham Forest.

The 34 year-old has played for twelve full Welsh caps and has scored over 100 goals in a career which has also seen just over £2million spent on him.

He began his career as a youngster at Southampton but it was only after a move to Bristol Rovers that Gareth made his League debut back in 1991. He has since gone on to play for a number of Clubs including Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.

Last season Gareth scored nine goals in 39 appearances for Rovers in support of 19 goal leading scorer Chris Greenacre but will face competition this year from Calvin Zola and youngster Craig Curran.
