The 31 year-old attacking central midfielder contributed with five goals in 42 games for Rovers in his first season in 2006-07.

Before signing for Rovers, Mullin had played 360 games and netted a total of 29 goals having has previously played for Burnley, Sunderland and Rotherham and in total he has had £190,000 spent on him in transfer fees.

Upon signing Mullin, Ronnie Moore commented "I bought John when I was at Rotherham so I know him well.  He has a good engine and likes to get forward.  Hopefully he will get goals for us as we are looking to be an attacking side."
