Sometimes known by his full name of Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, Shane is a 24 year-old defender who signed a two-year contract with Rovers in the summer of 2006.

Capable of playing either centre-back or left-back, the Australian began his career at Leeds United after playing at a New South Wales academy in Australia. He was named a substitute against Manchester United at the age of 20 in 2001 but subsequently failed to really break into the first team at Elland Road.

After three years at the Club, during which time he also had a loan spell at Rochdale, Sherriff moved in 2003 to play in the top Division in Denmark, the Superliga with AGF Aarhus.

Shane has also represented Australia at Under 23 level and was part of the Olympic Games squad in Athens in 2004.

In 2006-07, Shane made 43 appearances for Rovers, scoring five goals in the process.
