Chelsea v Liverpool OFFICIAL Thread
By 40 Years A Blue
April 21 2006
The hours and the minutes cannot be counted down fast enough before Saturday arrives when myself and '18 Years A Blue' set off for Old Trafford for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

The itself for me at least is a secondary event and the day will be all about visiting and being inside Old Trafford for the first time since the ground's redevelopment. I have made many journey's to OT when football was all about terracing and have one vivid memory back in the eighties when a lanky Bill Garner scored for Chelsea after 90 seconds at the away end and Chelsea for the remaining 88 minutes were under siege by the rampant Reds, reminiscent to the Battle of Rorke's Drift or the siege at The Alamo.

For the umpteenth time in about a year Chelsea and Liverpool do battle. We have had the Champions League battles, Premiership and Carling Cup engagements and now for the first time in a while the two sides meet in the FA Cup and a semi-final to boot.

The best remembered FA Cup tie in recent history was at Stamford Bridge when being 2-0 down at half-time, and it has to be said could have been a lot worse, the then manager Ruud Gullit borught on Mark Hughes and Chelsea swept into the next round after winning the tie 4-2. If the game tomorrow is as half as good as that one, then both sets of fans and the millions watching on TV should be in for a treat.

Only once before have Chelsea and Liverpool met in a FA Cup semi-final. Way back in 1965 at Villa Park when Liverpool won 2-0.

I expect only one change from the starting eleven against Everton and that is Carlo (The second best Goalkeeper in the Premiership) to continue as our FA Cup goalkeeper.

Chelsea:

Cudicini, Geremi, Gallas, Terry, Del Horno, Makelele, Robben, Essien, Lampard, Drogba, Crespo

COME ON CHELSEA!
