Most Wins, Most Clean Sheets, Least Goals Conceded

Oh Joey Cole........

The curtain finally came down on the Premiership season yesterday with Chelsea as Champions, WBA surviving the relegation dogfight - Southampton, Norwich City and lastly Crystal Palace relegated to the Championship. Oh well.

Chelsea couldn't manage the win that would have given them thirty league wins for the season, but Chelsea, although they conceded a goal, did beat the existing record held by Liverpool by one goal for the least goals conceded during the season. Liverpool conceded 16 in 42 games, Chelsea 15 in 38 games. CONGRATULATIONS Chelsea.

The game iitself. Chelsea were greeted by Newcastle forming a guard of honour and accompanied by a standing ovation from the home crowd. Even Frank Lampard was afforded personal ovations each time he took a corner. Of course, such a nice man that Frank is, he returned the applause each time. Strange sight of the day was ex-Chelsea full back Celestine Babayaro leading out Chelsea.

It would have to had been Baba who gave away the penalty that Chelsea scored their equaliser from. Just as well the game had no meaning other than an end of season affair, otherwise there may have been some raised 'Toon Army' eyebrows. Super Frank with his 19th goal of the season, comfortably drilled the spot kick past Shay Given.

Newcastle's goal came unfortunately from Geremi, who under pressure from Titus Bramble, steered the ball into his own net.

It takes some getting used to and eye rubbing each time I view the papers and see Chelsea on top of the league with 95 points from 38 games, twelve points clear of Arsenal (who surprisingly lost at Birmingham) and eighteen points clear of Man Utd.

The Special One, Jose Mourinho proudly and rightfully claimed that ' Our records will stand for a long time. Most wins, most points, most clean sheets and least goals conceded all in one season is fantastic'.

What more can you say apart from,

COME ON CHELSEA

KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH!
