Jose Celebrates 50 Games in Charge

Nifty Fifty
By BlueBlood
April 9 2005
It just doesn't seem like three days ago that Chelsea beat Bayern Munich 4-2 in the Champions League. But it is and here we are again. Chelsea are now at the first of three successive home games which could see the realisation of the Premiership title for the first time in 50 years

in quicker time than forecast. Today Chelsea face Birmingham City, then Arsenal on the 20th April and Fulham on the 23rd April. Three wins from these three games, Chelsea will be crowned Premiership champions.

There is no reason why Chelsea cannot win these three games, but be extra sure and careful, that the Brum, Arsenal and Fulham will in no way make it easy for us. After all, each of these clubs have their own agendas to fulfil and to realise. But for Chelsea fans, what a prospect and what a couple of weeks to look forward to.

For the second time this season, Chelsea welcome Steve Bruce's boys Birmingham City to Stamford Bridge. Back in January in the FA Cup Chelsea won 2-0 with goals from Robert 'Huth' Huth and super captain and PFA elect winner John Terry. Earlier than that back in August 2004, Chelsea went to St Andrews and nicked a 1-0 win with a goal from Joey 'He's here, he's there, he's every f*****g where' Cole and did Chelsea nick a 1-0!!!

As a far as Birmingham City are concerned they have done very well to get where they are today (and I have no problem with their ethic and tenacity in battle for survival, unlike some clubs) and they have been an attraction of at least England's second city to attract some 'star' names and top quality players. Players like Savage (who of course left to go to Blackburn), David Dunn, who is inured for today's game, Walter Pandiani on loan who may play today, of course our smiley happy Mario Melchiot who makes his second return in a matter of months, welcome back Mario for the second time. Jesper, who went to Brum for a while has since left to sow pastures new in Spain.

Back to Chelsea. Jose celebrates his return to the touchline after his midweek ban and to boot is in charge for his 50th competitive game. Congrats Jose!! Here is to the next 50 and the next 50 and the next 50 and the next 50.

Congratulations also to Joey 'He's here, he's there, he's every f*****g where' Cole. Joe was named as the Barclays Player of the Month for March and joins John Terry and Arjen Robben in the Chelsea Hall of Fame for individual honours during this momentuous season. Congratulations also to John Terry who was voted PFA Fans Player of the Month for March. When it comes to John Terry the book is closed on him winning the PFA Footballer of the Year award on Sunday 24th April.

Lastly, one more congratulation is in order. Thank you Eider, who made my son's day yesterday by signing an autograph near the shop where my son works part time. My son admitted that Eider looked a bit 'cheesed' off with all the attention considering that he was with his family, but Eider all the same a BIG UP to you.

Expect a couple of changes to the side that started against Bayern on Wednesday. Bearing in mind that Chelsea are due to play Bayern again on Tuesday next week, and the squad fly out to Bavaria on Sunday morning. No resting on laurels at this stage of the season!!

Jose probable eleven:

Cech, Johnson, Terry, Huth, Gallas, Makelele, Duff, Lampard, Cole, Kezman, Forssell

COME ON CHELSEA!!

KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH!
