After convening a hastily Independent Disciplinary Panel, the Sweet FA had egg on their faces when the panel decided NOT to increase Hazard’s suspension for kicking the two-bob scroat Charlie Morgan last month at The Libery. Therefore Hazard serves the last of his three match ban today, when the Blues play Newcastle United at St James’ Park this afternoon.

Demba Ba returns to his old stamping ground where he scored 13 goals and I hope he receives the welcome back when he makes his appearance as a sub in the 90th minute (sarcasm… ED)

Petr Cech is available again for selection and Juan Mata, who it was thought had a serious ankle injury at Reading on Wednesday night, is also fit and available for selection.

Other than that there are no new injury worries.

Revised squad lists were submitted for the League and Europa League to accommodate changes since the transfer window closed and surprise, surprise, Florent Malouda, sent to Coventry, banned from the 1st team car-park and treated like a ‘yoof’ has been recalled to the sunshine of the 1st team, but he has not been included in the Europa League squad.

On Sunday, Drogba’s Ivory Coast take on Mikel and Moses Nigeria in the third quarter-final of the ACN, k.o. 3pm.
