A Tom Hitchcock own goal last Wednesday evening has given Chelsea an opportunity to reach their 2nd FA Youth Cup Final in three years tonight at Stamford Bridge. The game kicks off at 7pm and there will be LIVE updates on the message board. Chelsea TV are showing the whole game LIVE and their coverage begins at 6.15pm.
It was a bit of a fiesty affair at Ewood Park. Both teams had a player sent-off - Kaby Djalo (Chelsea) and Michael Potts (Blackburn) but it was Chelsea who kept their nerve to hold out for the win.
As far as I am aware, Kaby and Potts are not suspended for tonight as their suspensions kick in on Wednesday.
Away goals DO NOT count double so if the scores are level after 90 minutes, there will be 30 minutes of extra-time and if the scores are still tied, the match will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.
After tonight's match the players will have a couple of days rest before jetting out to Dallas to participate in the 31st Dallas Cup.
Chelsea have been drawn in Group A against Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (Costa Rica), CF Monterrey Rayados (Mexico) and FC Dallas U18 Academy (USA).
Chelsea's 1st game will be against FC Dallas U18 Academy on Sunday 28th March, kicking off at 3pm (local time).
Reserve and Academy players expected to travel are: Nikki Ahamed, Ben Gordon, Nic Heimann, Jan Sebek, Danny Philliskirk, Kenny Strickland, Jacopo Sala, Gokhan Tore, Josh McEachran, Conor Clifford.
But tonight we concentrate on the Youth Cup and here is hoping the Academy can remind the first team about commitment, desire and courage and get to the Final where Newcastle United or Aston Villa will be waiting.
Team news as and when available.
LIVE UPDATES FROM 7PM BELOW.
