Football Icon 2 Winner Carl Magnay's Career in Serious Doubt

If Chelsea Football Club haven't already suffered a bad week then the week has got considerably worse with the news that Football Icon 2 winner Carl Magnay's career is in serious doubt after sustaining an extremely serious knee injury during a friendly win against Charlton Athletic at Cobham on Wednesday.
The injury happened during the second-half when Magnay collapsed for no apparent reason. There was no challenge and no opposition player near him.

The initial assessment is that Carl has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and to make matters worse, Carl has cracked his kneecap.

Coach Steve Holland obviously distressed with the situation said, "Carl's injury is a bit of a disaster I'm afraid. We are still awaiting results of the scans but the early assessment is that he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, and that there is damage to the medial collateral ligament, and an issue with a cracked kneecap also, so that's a really nasty injury."

Poor Carl hasn't had the best of times in the last year. He was out for a long period with a back injury whilst on loan to MK Dons and he has not long returned to reserve team action after a serious of niggling injuries.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Carl a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action really soon, although it is extremely possible his recovery time could be anything up to TWO years.

For the record the final score was 3-2 to Chelsea with Jacob Mellis and a Fabio Borini brace netting for the Blues.

@#$%&- so him and Sam Hutchinson have possible career ending knee injury problems. Reckon they must train them too hard at Chelsea or something- so many serious injuries in the youth ranks here. Shocking as this season was pretty much make or break for the lad i thought, Why is it always youngsters who get career ending injuries. I remember Ricardo Fernandes who looked extrmeley promising fade into thin air, after i believe he suffered a serious knee injury too. Also, i'm sure Michael woods had a serious knee injury- maybe not the injury he has now, but last season or something.

Andrew Sam Hutchinson DOESNT have a career threatening injury. He is back in training and he may well have played on Wednesday.

@ Since66- offcourse sam hutchinson has a career threatening injury. He hasn't played any regular football for nearly 3 years. I would class that as career threatening. Sam has constantly been plagued by his knee trouble, and most alarmingly if you have taken any notice, it seems that he appears to be taking longer and longer time off and playing less and less mins.

He has been back at training for little more than a week after taking 4 months out, and you seriously think his career isnt in any danger. You make me laugh. (Just because he is back in training doesn't mean he cant have a career threatening injury. Infact the injury has already considerably affected his career, if you want to get all technical about it)
