Ancelotti: "Money no problem – Youth can be the answer"

Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated the club’s decision not to delve into the January transfer market and denied that this is a decision forced on him by club suits and lack of funds. Some quarters of Chelsea fans are anxious that a top-class forward is brought into the fold for fear of a dramatic derailment for the Premier League title – Ancelotti says we have enough in the tank anyway.

'It's not true that the club said we don't want to buy a new player,' said Ancelotti.

'Why not? It's a decision that we took together. It's not true that the club don't want to buy players. If it's necessary to do this, then we can do it. It's not a question of money. Absolutely not.'

'Together, we took this decision to maintain this squad because we think this squad is a good squad, is able to play the games we have in January, and we have a possibility to give an opportunity - a great opportunity - to the young players if it's necessary.

The “If necessary” part of Ancelotti´s comments may indicate that it is not a given that players like  Sturridge, Borini, Bruma or Kakuta are guaranteed playing time during the period of the ACN – of course, injuries to players such as Anelka for example would almost certainly force his hand.
