Wolves Reserves v Chelsea Reserves: LIVE Updates from 7.05pm
COME ON CHELSEA
September 29 2009
Paulo Ferreria continues his comeback tonight as the Reserves travel to Telford to take on new-boys of the Barclays Reserve League South, Wolverhampton Wanderers. Also included in the squad is Nemanja Matic, who was an unused sub against QPR in last week's Carling Cup 3rd Round. The game is live on Chelsea TV, kick off at 7.05pm & there will be LIVE updates on the board from the same time.
The team will be very different from the one that beat Portsmouth 5-2 in the last game over three weeks ago.
As coach Steve Holland explains, "We have three lads in Eqypt in the Under 20 World Cup: Michael Woods, Nana Ofori-Twumasi and Jan Sebek. Plus Gael Kakuta who is banned and then we have three in the Champions League who look certain to travel: Fabio Borini, Sam Hutchinson and Jeffrey Bruma.
"We have one or two injuries as well, with Adam Phillip and Carl Magany out, so it will be a mixture of youth team players with Matic and Ferreira, who aren't in the Champions League squad.
"Tonight's game will be an oppotunity for some Academy players to impress. Conor Clifford and Jacopo Sala are still eligible for the youth team, but have played for the reserves this season, alongside those who haven't, like Milan Lalkovic and Gokhan Tore, as well as Josh McEachran, so it's a good opportunity for them to show what they can do.
"Conor came in for the Portsmouth game and played very well, and if he can carry on in the same vein against Wolves we will be more than pleased with that."
For the record, Adam Phillip (3) and Fabio Borini (2) were the scorers in the game against Portsmouth.
Wolves welcome back from injury, Chris Iwelumo and Richard Stearman.
Chelsea: Rhys Taylor, Ben Gordon, Kenny Strickland, Danny Mills, Paulo Ferreira, Daniel Philliskirk, Conor Clifford, Jacopo Sala, Josh McEachran, Gokhan Tore, Milan Lalkovic
Subs: Sam Walker, Nikki Ahamed, Billy Clifford, Aliu Djalo, Marko Mitrovic
