He will form part of the first team squad alongside Petr Cech and the experienced Hilario who himself signed a new two-year deal – bad news for Rhys Taylor who will presumably be demoted or loaned out.

Turnball made his top-flight debut in May 2006 but had also played between the sticks on loan spells for Darlington, Barnsley, Bradford, Crewe and Cardiff.
Despite breaking into the Boro first team he was unable to displace Brad Jones – something which not all Boro fans were in agreement with.
Ironically, his last Middlesbrough appearance came against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in January. He also played in our 5-0 away drubbing of Boro at the Riverside.
Ross made 29 appearances for Middlesbrough (67 in total with his various loan clubs).
