Mancienne had a successful loan period with the midlands club earlier this season when manager McCarthy likened him to Franz Beckenbauer but Chelsea are anxious to keep him at Stamford Bridge where he will probably form part of a mini refurbishment revolution next season.

The new contract will be for four years with a pay-rise of around £15,000 per week and for a player of his ability that has been with the club since the age of 8 is only just reward.
21-year-old Mancienne has only managed a handful of league and champions league appearances for Chelsea this season but his talent was still recognised enough for him to be selected for the full England squad due to his impressive performances for the U21´s.

You look at overspenders like Southampton, Charlton, Norwich, Leeds, Leicester, Bradford then look at Sunderland and they spent £50m and stayed up by virtue of 3 points last year and think it'll be a massive struggle.

Good luck V Barcelona in the second leg, I thought keeping a clean sheet against a team with over 100 league goals to their name was quite impressive.
