Mikel/Lyn Case: Chelsea now to Pursue Man Utd?

Chelsea Football Club released a statement on it’s official website with regard to the Lyn Oslo/Mikel legal case saga. It was a statement that revealed nothing other than that an agreement had been reached with Lyn and that the conditions were confidential. However, there is a 12m quid question now hanging on everyone’s lips: Will Chelsea now pursue Manchester United?

.

The statement read: “Chelsea Football Club and FC Lyn Oslo have resolved all matters between the two clubs with regard to John Mikel Obi.”

“The terms of the agreement will remain confidential. There will be no further comment.”

Lyn were found guilty of forging Mikel´s professional contract.  This forged contract enabled them to sell the player to Man Utd after Chelsea had paid for his development and education.

Mikel verticle

Mikel spent a year not playing football as Manchester United were not prepared to relinquish the player to Chelsea – unfortunately, they had the transfer documents which the forged contract enabled them to draw up - but the plot thickened when it transpired that the player had been pressured into signing without his agent present (against FIFA regulations).

The only way to get the player out of this hell was to pay Lyn 4m and Man Utd 12m – money that should NEVER had to have been paid.

At the time, the media were on a campaign of blaming Chelsea for anything they could and hoards of frothing at the mouth oppo fans were only too pleased to take the moral high-ground and pour out their accusations against us.  However, since the REAL guilty parties have been discovered, these same sanctimonious hypocritical fans are noted by their absence of comment – strange that isn’t it?

The questions now are;

(1)   What settlement has Lyn and Chelsea agreed on after the guilty verdict?

(2)   Why confidential? Is the “compensation” not monetary and takes another form?

(3)   Given that Chelsea paid monies after a criminal act had been committed and that the Lyn side has been finally settled, will Chelsea now pursue Man Utd for the 12m that they shouldn’t have paid?

(4)   Or…will Chelsea Football Club just roll over and forget about it?

Mikel/Lyn Case: Chelsea now to Pursue Man Utd?

It's highly likely that no monies were paid to either party until the final outcome of Chelsea's appeal. Now that it has been confirmed that the docs were forged I suspect Man Utd will not get a penny and Lynn will also not be paid in any way shape or form.

Are you saying that we have had Mikel all this time without transferring a penny to Lyn and Man Utd?

I don´t think this can be the case - they released him to us without receiving anything?

Naaah!

it's interesting it's been kept so hush hush, i think we've probably taken a nominal fee maybe as much as £500,000 but we've agreed an almost feeder club agreement with them, whereby we get first dibs at any future players, but without paying them a fee each year like normal.

£4m back isn't really an issue, unless big Phil needs it, but the possibility of future talents from them, might be worth more than £4 if another M.J.O. comes out of it.

I think we will invesitgate the legalities of the agreement we signed with Utd and whether we can get the money back before any action is taken, it would be nice to think we could get £12m back to invest on a winger or striker as needed.

we'll have to wait and see.

After Turkish´s post I think I´m with you now - you mean the compensation NOT the origonal transfer payments...

you idiot, once the decision between Lyn and Chelski had been agreed it therefor cannot be subject to a court ruling. Facts remain the same United bought a player with what were deemed as official documents, do you not think that Fifa the FA and whoever else failed to notice the forgery when verifying the documents are to blame. Didn't think so,you just look to point the finger and try and claim some retriubtion for your handling of tranfers since the Abromavic era. Regardless you still persued a player deemed to be assigned to another club, you still turned their head with ludicrous offers for players worth a quater of their value. All this nonsense of Mikel being forced to sign. Ive seen him play and he doesnt seem to be the type to be forced into anything. If he didnt want to sign for United he would never have allowed himself to be pictured happy in the Red sirt. Adults in the public arena are never going to be held to ransom. You saw an oppertunity and took it, you have an alright player on too much money but he is doing a job for you so don't complain, just cry away into Abromovic's millions, as Terry did after his little slip.

The court has already ruled - Lyn were guilty of forgery. The compensation was agreed by the two clubs (please READ the statment in the article before you get yourself into a frothing mass).

Facts remain the same United bought a player with what were deemed as official documents, do you not think that Fifa the FA and whoever else failed to notice the forgery when verifying the documents are to blame.

The transfer documents were genuine - but the transfer could only take place because the pro contract was forged - without the contract - no transfer.

Regardless you still persued a player deemed to be assigned to another club,

We pursued it because WE paid for his education and development and because Mikel was forced to sign the transfer without his agent present. We KNEW that the pro-contract was FORGED - remember- no pro contract - no legal transfer possible.

All this nonsense of Mikel being forced to sign. Ive seen him play and he doesnt seem to be the type to be forced into anything.

He was 17 YEARS OLD you plum!

Lyn made sure he signed WITHOUT his agent present.

Sadly for you BBC - Mikel has been our best player so far this season - shame I can't the same for a few other of our highly paid superstars.,
