Chelsea Involved in U21s v Czech Republic

Bet Woolwich Are Glad
By Since66
November 18 2008
As expected Didier Drogba was handed a three match ban by the FA this afternoon, with immediate effect. Didier misses Chelsea's next two home games against Newcastle United and Woolwich, plus Chelsea's away trip to Bolton on Saturday 6th December (which moi got his tickets for the game this morning). The FA as they normally do, issued a statement after passing Didier's sentence.

The statement reads:

"Drogba admitted a charge of violent conduct. The charge related to Drogba throwing a missile into the away section of the crowd after scoring during the Carling Cup match against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 12th November."

So that's it judgement made and sentence passed. All Didier has got to concern himself about now is what punishment the Police and Chelsea Football Club will inflict on him.

To be honest I really don't think Dids will be missed that much, especially with the form that Anelka is in, but Dids is good for the 'Plan B.'

OK Dids loves to battle Woolwich all over the park and he does love to score against Woolwich especially with his knee, but I think with the football that Chelsea are playing at the moment, we will play Woolwich off the park!

Moving on to the U21s who are in action tonight against the Czech Republic at Bramall Lane.

Jack Cork 1

With Michael Mancienne 'getting the call' from Fabio, Jack Cork, currently on loan at Southampton is in the squad along with left-back Ryan Bertrand.

Ryan Bertrand 1

Jack Cork, son of Wimbledon legend Alan Cork said, "It was great to get the call-up. After playing for the other England teams, it's the next step up in my career and I'm really looking forward to getting involved and being a part of it.

"I really enjoyed it last time and hopefully this time I can get a bit of time on the pitch."

Chelsea Involved in U21s v Czech Republic

Very good (and surprising) news on the length of the ban - I was half-expecting the FA Chelsea Tax to kick in. Perhaps, Taylor with his "there is a 3 match ban precedent re Carragher actually HELPED keep the ban to 3 matches (whether it was intentional or not I´ve no idea).

It´s a pain not having Drogba available for Arsenal however, as you say, Anelka is doing very well at the moment and he also seems to really be coming out of his shell. Anelka also loves to prove a point when playing Arsenal once their fans start giving him stick so... hopefully he´ll play a blinder.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Runour is that Mancienne may START alongside Terry for Engand - really hope our boy plays a part. Really looking forward to seeing the match.
