A Hat-Trick of Happiness

Top of the League

A three goal blitz in the last twelve minutes of the first-half saw Chelsea comfortably regain top spot and create a NEW Club record and Premiership record of ten successive away league wins. What is it with the weather North of Watford when we play? Another away day and another game as the rain teemed it down and down.

At least there were no concerns of the game being abandoned unlike at Blackburn the previous week.

Chelsea took a while to get going and it took a right-back to open the scoring. Down on Albion's left, Bossi cut inside and whipped a left foot shot inside Carson's near post via the underside of the bar.

Minutes later, Anelka ran clear and dinked the ball over Carson to make it 2-0 and right on the stroke of half-time, Anelka got his 7th league goal in three games as he ran on to a Kalou pass to score in between Carson and the post.

You could sense a cricket score as half-time came.

But it wasn't to be. Chelsea created the chances, but with woeful finishing and wasteful final balls, Scolari and his troops had to settle for the three goals that won the game in the first-half.

Albion were outplayed, but they did cause a few flutters in this old heart. Miller was a strong runner, the sub Teixeira fizzed one over not long after coming on as a sub and another sub, Kim hit a volley which just went past the post.

Anelka was withdrawn as was the in-effective Kalou, to be replaced by Drogba and Ballack respectively and with five minutes to go, JT limped off with what looked to be a foot injury.

No more injuries PLEASE!

Very impressive last 25 mins of the first half and we appeared to take our foot off the pedal in the 2nd.

Kalou continues to frustrate - so much ability but.....

Malouda should have had at least one but we cant really complain too much with a 3-0 away can we??!!

Great finish by Bosingwa and Anelka seems to be finally coming out of his shell - took his first goal very well.

Worrying that Terry has a knock - at the moment we have only Ivanovic left as CB.

Still, despite all our inhuries, not really having played a proper Chelsea team yet we are top and with a massive GD!

Kalou is ligthweight. His telling contribution was setting up Anelka for his 2nd goal.

As for Malouda, the man has had more chances in recent games THAN any team in any given game has during a game, if you know what I mean.

2009 HAPPY NEW YEAR
