The Record Is Under Serious Threat!!!

Who can forget Boxing Day 2007? Eight goals, three sending off's, two penalties which included a last gasp equaliser for Villa, after Chelsea were 2-1 down, then 3-2 up and then 4-3 up. That game will live in the memory for a long-time, but can the two clubs in action later on this afternoon repeat the excitement of 10 months ago?

Why not?

It has to be said, that game was Sheva's best ever in a Chelsea shirt.

Andriy Shevchenko after scoring from the pe

Two goals, an assist and he was never seen again till the latter part of the season when he saved us with THAT clearance off the line - Cheers Sheva!!!

Shevchenko villa celebrates his goal.

They say lightning never strikes twice in the same place and Villa are soaring at the moment - creative buys during the Summer and Chelsea - well Scolari was brought to the club to provide the 'fantasy' football that Mr A craves for - but with all the injuries Chelsea have at the moment, can Big Phil afford to be that creative and 'risk' losing THE longest unbeaten home League record?

I have never known a period of time over the last three years where Chelsea have suffered so much with injuries.

With the current crop of injuries Chelsea are suffering with at the moment I expect Big Phil to be conservative this afternoon and pull out a drab 0-0 draw - then after the two week International break (the break can't come quick enough), Chelsea can revert back to Big Phil's standards against 'Boro on the 18th and it will be happy days all round.

I have no doubts in the slightest that today's game will end in a 0-0 draw so much so I am going to have a tenner's bet on a 0-0.

Now people, you WILL be guaranteed goals!!!

By the 18th October (Middlesbrough away) Deco should be back as should Carvalho, Mineiro should be ready to make an entrance and Dids will be on the verge of a return.

As for today: JT is a doubt along with Alex as is Ashley Cole and Anelka, Joey should be fit to return and there is the possibility of Michael Mancienne making his debut with Scott Sinclair or Franco Di Santo joining him or at least on the bench to be called upon should we need them.

Expect the unexpected - oh the Glorious Unpredictability!!!

This game will show how good we are strength in depth.Agreed the record is under threat and the boys will really need the crowd to be the extra man today if we are to get anything out of the game.My prediction 0.0 or a 1.1.
