What is the best cure for a thrashing? Go out and thrash another team in your next game, and that is exactly what The Academy did at Cobham yesterday morning. Last week The Academy lost at Bristol City 4-1, this week it was the turn of Ipswich Town's youngsters to receive a hammering. The hero of the day was Fabio Borini who helped himself to a hat-trick.

He was complimented in his achievement by Conor Clifford who grabbed two whilst Frank Nouble and Jacopo Sala scored a goal each.

The Academy were four up inside twenty minutes. Frank Nouble scored the first, U17 Irish International Conor Clifford scored the second, Borini got his first and Academy's third from the penalty spot and Sala rounded off the Academy's exhilarating start with the fourth.

Ipswich scored the first goal of the second-half, Borini then scored his second to make it 5-1, Borini continued on and got his hat-trick to make it six, then Ipswich pulled another goal back to make it 6-2 then from another penalty which saw an Ipswich youngster sent off, Conor Clifford got his second which made the score 7-2.

Academy coach Paul Clement said, "After last week against Bristol we weren't best pleased and it was very important to make amends. We started excellently and we could have had more from a really good attacking performance, The second goal was superb as anyone who catches it on Chelsea TV will see.

"We are disappointed with the two goals conceded because we know in a tighter game, those mistakes could be crucial but special mentions go to Fabio for his hat trick and a really pleasing display from Conor.

"It was a good team performance with lots of contributions from all over the field and Jan Sebek also made two very good saves in the second-half."

Chelsea: Jan Sebek, Tom Hayden, Daniel Philliskirk (c), Billy-Joe King, Jordan Tabor, Conor Clifford, Fabio Borini (Aliu Djalo), Josh McEachran (Marco Mitrovic), Jacopo Sala, Frank Nouble, Ben Gordon (Billy Knott).
