There was supposed to be a Wigan Preview and a Wigan Report over the last few days, but due to network problems and extremely late notice work commitments there won't be either. Instead here's is a quick few words on the Wigan game and Chelsea's 1-0 victory. "Deco's wonderful free-kick sealed three points for Scolari and Chelsea." That will do. (Deco free-kick video below)

Instead we will concentrate on the following recent Chelsea activity instead.

In the Cobham Cup at the weekend, a tournament to celebrate the opening of new facilities for the Academy, the U16's along with seven other teams played in a three day tournament.

Eventually Chelsea were beaten by Argentina's River Plate 2-1 in the final, a team Chelsea had already beaten in the group stage of the competition.

In attendance for the final were Didier Drogba, Carlo Cudicini and Franco Di Santo.

Yesterday (Tuesday), Chelsea Reserves played Man Utd Reserves in the 2nd match of a unique double-header (Man Utd Reserves won the first game 1-0), and the final score was 2-2, despite Chelsea leading 2-0 at half-time with goals from Scott Sinclair and Jacob Mellis.

It took a last minute penalty to give Utd a draw and to deny Chelsea 'the' draw in the two-game series.

Man City and Everton want Shaun Wright-Phillips but Shaunie's agent has said that he doesn't want to move away from Stamford Bridge.

Expect Robinho to sign before the end of the transfer window (midnight 1st September), according to Peter Kenyon.

Kenyon said today, "We are ever confident that the deal for Robinho will get done but we have always said it will go to the wire.

"We will keep moving it on and we hope that he will be joining us here at Chelsea."

To finish with, the Champions League Group draw takes place in Monaco on Thursday and I know it's severe wishful thinking, here's hoping that both Liverpool and Woolwich aren't in it.

Was a shame about the loss in the final for the academy to River - especially after beating them in an earlier match.

The reserves were very unlucky to draw to Man Utd when they were pulled back to 2-2 at the death.

It appears SWP is having a medical at Man City on Thursday. Obviously, out on the wing Shaun wasn´t working and although he is much better inside , competition in midfield is too much. Great attitude though - sad in a way to see him go.

..and Robinho appears to be a done deal - I suppose tomorrow or Thursday it will be announced.

Will he get a run out against "Tottenham boys! Tottenham boys! No pork pies or saveloys!" though? No doubt he will at least be on the bench.
