Saywer on the Move and Taylor Called up for Wales

Chelsea have loaned Lee Sawyer to Southend United for 3 months. Sawyer joins the likes of Bertrand, Sahar, Cummings and Grant who have gone off to new pastures to further their careers and gain experience by playing on a regular basis. One of the positives of these 'experienced' reserve players moving on, is that players from the Youth (if they are good enough) can move up to the next level.

Incidentially the Reserves begin their League season away to Arsenal on September 1st and the Academy kick off against Crewe Alexandra on Thursday 21st August 2008.

Chelsea Ladies started their season yesterday at home beating Liverpool Ladies 5-0 in a game that appeared to be one-sided (by the scoreline) but by all reports, The Scouse Girls gave as good as they got.

Lianne Sanderson scored a hat-trick on her Chelsea debut and Eniola Aluko scored the other two.

Congratulations to Rhys Taylor, who was a non-playing member of the squad yesterday, Rhys has been called up to the senior Wales squad for their friendly international against Georgia this week.

Rhys Taylor 1

Rhys was originally selected for the U-21s, but an injury to Lewis Price has given 18 year old Rhys an excellent chance to show Chelsea what he is made off.
