Russian Railways Cup
Lokomotiv it proved were the fitter team - after all they are mid-way throught their domestic season and Chelsea are just starting.
Chelsea took the lead in the 27th minute with a Michael Essien thunderbolt from the edge of the area.

Chelsea created chances to seal the game way before Lokomotiv equalised five minutes before time.
Personally I thought the wall was poorly formed and Cech was slow to move towards the shot as it was taken - the ball ended up in the net after deflecting of the post.
Cech made amends to a degree when he saved the first Lokomotiv penalty but didn't have too much chance with all the other Russian spot-kicks.

Lampard, Deco, SWP and Essien were successful in their spot-kicks but it was Wayne Bridge and finally Andriy Shevchenko who missed theirs and the Russian's won 5-4.
Oh to win a shoot-out competition - wouldn't that be nice?

Still despite the outcome, the game proved to be a worthwhile exerciseas will playing AC Milan tomorrow.
Our fitness levels are rising, our competitiveness is sharpening and everything is boding well for the season's opener against the Pompey chime boys at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 17th August.
The game kicks-off at 1.30pm UK time.
