Etoo and Deco Agreed in 43M Move

SAMUEL ETOO
By dixon9 June 13 2008
Barcelona and Chelsea have reached an agreement between clubs for the transfer of Etoó and Deco to Chelsea for a combined fee of 43M. Next we will see if the players themselves reach personal terms with Chelsea, and in the case of Deco, IF this means a Lampard exit to Inter or the Portuguese midfielder being used as a bargaining chip for another Chelsea/Inter shared target – such as Quaresma.

My understanding was that Lampard´s intention was to stay at Stamford Bridge.  For some time he has indicated that he and the Chelsea suits would sort out a deal when he came back from holiday in the summer, and later, after the sad death of his mother, he again announced he was sure he was going to stay.

Deco, Barcelona

However, IF Deco is coming, this can only surely mean the departure of Lampard – I mean…are we really going to have Ballack, Deco AND Lampard all in the squad?!!!  No!  It has to be that Lampard has decided to “get away from it all” after the effects of his recent bereavement (or something like that)…OR Mourinho has worked his powers of persuasion on our prized midfielder?

A Lampard/Deco changeover would almost be a “like for like” replacement – both are the same age and of very similar abilities.  I prefer Lampard myself and would be very sad indeed to see him go.

How does the 43M split anyway? Something like 12M Deco/ 31M Etoó?  No idea, but with the probable exit of Drogba I must admit that the Cameroon striker is one of the few replacement forwards that would placate Chelsea fans – even better if Drogba bottles the Milan move with no Champions League football and stays – we would then have 4 forwards, Drogba, Etoó, Anelka and Shevchenko.  This scenario would probably result in Chelsea withdrawing the offer for Torres (wouldn´t it?!!!).

The next few days will be interesting ones…

Dude where did you get this news.....from the back of a cornflakes box?

Deco just denied this rumour. I am not buying this until I begin to hear it from the big papers.

I know you need the attention from readers but you cannot start publishing @#$%& that's not true...especially to ppl in the same faith.

Try a different tactic.

Don´t be such so pompous.

Deco quotes from 3 days ago:

“There are only two possibilities and they are Chelsea and Inter, but I have not decided my future yet.

“The decision of where I play is mine. I have to meet with my agent to decide what is best. But I won’t go to a club that does not interest me and does not allow me to win titles.”

(On Scolari)

"I have great faith in him and our relationship could not be better."

“Our relationship is excellent and that counts. But you have to evaluate other things. Inter are a great team, as are Chelsea, where several friends of mine play like Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira and Hilario.”

(From various newspapers such as The Telegraph, Observer...NOT a Corn Flakes box)

And if you actually bother to READ the report, then you should note that the news is that there is agreement between the two clubs - NOT that the players have agreed personal terms.

Time will tell anyway.....

Well he says "people of the same faith" so that probably means he is Chelsea.

He´s welcome on here and I hope he comes back.

Was a bit patronising though wasn´t he?!

I think this sort of thing is what makes people chuckle. Its a bit like when Spurs used to be linked with the 'big names'. I remember them being linked with Shevchenko, in his prime, and signing Rebrov. This is the same, and this is why people laugh.

Kaka? Torres? Messi? Aguero?

No.

Instead, the real targets are ageing former galacticos. Deco. Eto'o. Ronaldinho. I'm stunned you're not in talks with Beckham.

I do feel for poor ol' Roman. Because he wants to play Fantasy Football, and he's got the money to do it. He's just bought the wrong base-layer. He's bought a duff team. A team that the big players wont touch. Signing Deco and Eto'o wont change that. Sign a David Villa or a Fernando Torres or a Lionel Messi and that'll change. But you wont. Its a shame. But thats life aint it Chelsea?

Yes that´s right - we´ve had a really poor return in recent years haven´t we Nozzy?!!! LOL!

What about you? Pleased with your owners and the investment they are making (all out of their own pockets - not like Glazer eh?). I mean, you must be pleased - you welcomed them with open arms "It was done in the right way!" "They will respect our history and traditions!"

(pass the vomit bucket!).
