JT - 'Liverpool Fans Were Horrible'
By Since66 April 29 2008
John Terry said in his programme notes on Saturday that he expected the crowd to raise their game not only for the Man Utd game but for Wednesday's encounter against Liverpool in the 2nd Leg of the Champions League semi-final at Stamford Bridge. He said "I've got to say that the stick us players took from their fans was horrible."
JT SIGNING

"But I am sure every Chelsea fan will give it back to them on Wednesday night.

"We've heard about their fans around the last two semi-finals and how the second leg at Anfield is to their advantage. Well I will tell you what I think. Our fans are just as great as theirs when the game's a big one.

"I know you'll put them under immense pressure on Wednesday. I know you'll be as loud as you can. Chelsea expects and I know you'll deliver for us."

JT's right!!

The fans did deliver on Saturday, where that came from I do not know, and so did the players!

For once Grant got his selection right against Man Utd. Play to your strengths and your strengths will prevail. Utd lost and Liverpool could only draw after playing an almost reserve team.

Chelsea do have the advantage and if the team and the fans put in the same amount of effort that they did on Saturday there is absolutely no reason why we cannot play Man Utd in the FINAL of the Champions League on Wednesday 21st May 2008 in Moscow.

There is good news this evening in that Super Frank has trained since Sunday including taking part in tonight's session at Stamford Bridge and could take some part in Wednesday's game, following the tragic death of his Mum Pat, last week.

jt&fl 004.jpg

Avram Grant however was a little bit cautious regarding Frank's state of mind. He said "He is doing everything, to be available for the game, and we know his situation, but we are before training so I cannot tell you.

"We always take the decisions after the last training, as you know at Chelsea sometimes we have injuries in the last training so we will wait and see after training."

Grant had words to say in response to the 'Didergate' dossier that Benitez had apparently compiled.

He said, "I will not speak about the players of Liverpool and what they do. In the first game the referee can give a penalty to us and a yellow card to Garragher that would mean he could not play tomorrow.

"Even their goal was offside with Babel, he didn't touch the ball but disturbed Makelele so the referee can whistle for offside. Benitez is trying to take the attention from this, it is good psychology but I don't think it will affect the referee. The referees in this level are a high level."

Once thing is for certain, JT has to be careful tomorrow night. If he gets booked and Chelsea get through to the final, he will miss it!!!

Grant thinks 'The referees at this level are a high level"?

Didn't he see what we had in both our legs against Liverpool?

If we had got high level referees you would have been playing us tonight.

Or even either us or Inter as Inter got knocked out due to having two players sent off against Liverpool because of Torres' cheating in particular.

(Sm6) Still moaning.

Wenger vision glasses, you arsenal fans wear. If the ref had seen Flamini's handball your first at Anfield wouldn't have stood.

And regarding cheating, you should have a good look at your players.

But then you wouldn't see that with 'Wenger glasses' would you?

It wasn't handball by Flamini at Anfield, as was shown. You seem to be the only one who can't see it.

And I don't recall any cheating by our players in either leg.

Unlike Torres, Kuyt & Babel in particular.

And re the Benitez comments on Drogba, Drogba has hit back:

Angry Drogba hits back at Benitez
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL SECOND LEG
Date: Wed 30 April Kick-off: 1945 BST Venue: Stamford Bridge

Drogba has told Benitez to concentrate on his own team

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba says he has lost respect for Rafael Benitez after the Liverpool boss claimed he had a dossier of his 'diving' antics.

Ahead of the sides' Champions league semi-final second leg, Drogba furiously hit back at the accusation.

Drogba told French newspaper L'Equipe: "Benitez was a manager I respected a lot. He has really disappointed me.

"Until now, I found him very competent and also classy. A top boss would never go so low to attack a player."

Drogba came in for criticism over his conduct following last week's first leg, which finished 1-1.

But the Ivory Coast international believes it is unjustified and suspects the motives behind Benitez's comments.

"Perhaps he is looking for something to destabilise us before the match," Drogba said.

He added: "If he wants me to stay on my feet, maybe he should tell his defenders to stop hitting me.

"In the first leg, (Jamie) Carragher and the other one (Martin Skrtel) didn't stop. And not just with me. I finished the match with bruises everywhere.

"Last year, I broke a rib against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final. Strangely, that escapes the statistics of Benitez.

"It will not affect me. If I fall, I will always get up. The best response I can give will be on the pitch."

It's time to accept Grant's a good manager... Chelsea have had as good a run as Mourinho ever had in the Champions League already and he still has a chance to go further

Chelsea boss Avram Grant has already defended his player, insisting Drogba is not a cheat.

Grant said: "I don't think he is a diver at all. He's a good player. He's a powerful player, so the referee needs to look at what happens to him more."

"He looks so powerful, defenders think there are other ways to stop him.

But Grant feels Benitez is playing mind games and instead turned the focus on the defensive tactics used by Liverpool's defenders against Drogba in that game.

"If you look at the video and see what Jamie Carragher did to him in the first game, you will see the referee was very polite," said Grant.

"In the first half of the first game, the referee could easily have given a yellow card to Carragher to get him banned for this match.

"It could have been offside for Ryan Babel in the build-up to their goal, even if he was not involved in the goal."

"I think he (Benitez) is trying to take attention from this.

"Rafa can say whatever he wants to say. I say what I think. Ask him why he's saying that. I think the reason is clear.

"One way to stop him is to use power more than ever. I think he has tried to affect the referee so he does not do his job."

It's very important for the club to create history for Chelsea

I wasn't just referring to those matches, but in general.

Now if you don't mind, we have a Champions League semi final to look forward to.

The television replays perhaps?

How did you think it would be shown? By artists impression? Or perhaps by actors reproducing it on the pitch?

Unlike a title challenge for the past 18 years and counting.

Every time I've seen it replayed it's handball. Thats unless Flamini has an elbow on his chest.

Unlike a title challenge for the past 18 years and counting.

Maybe, but we've had a couple of tropies over the last three years. How about you??

Drogba

Hahahahahaha

He added: "If he wants me to stay on my feet, maybe he should tell his defenders to stop hitting me.

Hahahahaha

"In the first leg, (Jamie) Carragher and the other one (Martin Skrtel) didn't stop. And not just with me. I finished the match with bruises everywhere.

Hahahahaha

The 'man' is embarrassing.

Well, to be fair, they all dive a bit - some more than others admittedly.

Marks out of 10 for style and presentation for Torres tonight Capt! Just know he´s going to be at Olympic level tonight in the penalty box!

Any bets on who goes down first without any contact worth falling over about?

Drogba & Torres have to be joint favourites followed by Kuyt & JCole with Gerrard & Babel not far behind.

And how about a sweepstake on which minute Carragher will get away with his first foul in the box?

7/8 on both Drogba and Torres.

17th min on Carragher!

Grant complains that he "doesn't like it when other managers talk about his team" but he was perfectly happy to start more "Gerrard to Chelsea" stories last week by talking about how he'd love Gerrard to join Chelsea.

Seems he can give it but not take it!

Difference is that Grant was extremely positive about Gerrard.

More importantly, which minute do you want on our Carragher sweepstake?

Carragher 37th minute for me.

And Drogba first, to get up Benitez's nose.
