Torreira Beats Mustafi to MotM Player Ratings at Man U

Really exciting game but neither side showed a great deal of quality in truth. Quite a battle in the end. Surprised both teams finished the game with 11 men. Disappointing to have taken the lead twice and thrown it away pretty pathetically both times. Yet again defending lets Arsenal down, but still unbeaten. Ratings follow:

Leno - 5. Think he could've done better on both United goals.

Mustafi - 7. Did well again, both as RCB and CB. Scored.
Sokratis - 7. Another solid performance, as CB and later LCB.
Holding - 6. Looked comfortable on the ball but could he have done more to stop United's first goal? Real shame he's suffered a bad injury while he was doing so well.

Bellerin - 6. Okay but wasn't as adventurous as he has been.
MotM Torreira - 8. Really good again I thought. Proper warrior, never hides.
Guendouzi - 7. I was worried about him coming into the starting eleven for such a big occasion but I thought he got better as the game went on. Confident and composed in possession. Drew a lot of fouls.
Kolasinac - 5. Always dangerous on the overlap, but too often the final ball isn't there. Really messed up on United's second equaliser and I can't pretend I was thrilled with his defensive work rate later on.

Ramsey - 6. Not bad but not particularly effective. Went off at half time.
Aubameyang - 6. Worked hard but didn't really get into the game until the end. Should've scored.
Iwobi - 5. Always gets in good positions and carries the ball well but does very little with it. Another who could've done more to prevent United's first equaliser.

Subs:

Lichtsteiner - 7. Yeah I thought he slotted in well as RCB.
Mkhitaryan - 7. Best I've seen him play in a while. Lively. Did well for Lacazette's goal but should've scored.
Lacazette - 6. Scored. Cheeky heading the ball out of de Gea's hands as well.

Need major reinforcements in January if we are to challenge for the top 4. Too many individual errors at the back still.

Big positive is that we didn't hide and we showed the fighting spirit that's been missing for far too long.

We finished the game well. Torreira has done better than this in games. This was his first taste for English football imposing with guendouzi. It was physical with no real fouls given. My MOTM was sokratis as everybody else made visible mistakes including torreira

Torreira and Guendozi was good. Maybe it was good Xhaka was suspended as they had more mobility than him to evade United's pressing.

Overall much better performance for us in a while at OT but we could have easily won it. Auba should have scored. We gifted them the 2 goals, but I guess their fans will say the same about our goals.

Iwobi was poor in the final third. He tends to panic when getting into the box not sure what to do, and his senseless step overs doesn't lead to anything (he thinks he's Ronaldo but someone should tell him that when Ronaldo does it he uses it to good effect to beat players).

Our defense needs to do better and we need players back especially after Holding's injury. I hope Kos can come back soon and be the top player he was once for us. We need to buy a ready made CB as we are running out of them and its not yet half season.

Our next few PL games are very winnable, we should and need to pick up maximum points from ALL until the Anfield game.

Really impressed with the level of intensity we produced for 90 minutes after doing the same just days before against Spurs.

Old chap I know, not an Arsenal fan, used t say to me on a weekly basis during Wenger's last few seasons that the players either don't look fit enough, or don't look like they want to run and work for him. I don't know for sure which of those points was true, but either one or both of them definitely was, because the difference now is there for all to see.

Of course the problem with such intensity is that we're now starting to pick up injuries.

I think it is no coincidence that somebody like Sokratis, who has spent his entire career before this season elsewhere, looks so solid at the moment and always keeps it safe and simple. I'd imagine his influence has had something to do with the improved form of Holding and Mustafi as well.

Unfortunately we're trying to undo a long time culture of poor defending.

With Mavropanos still out, Koscielny suffering a setback and Holding now injured, we're looking short.

How long is mavropanos expected to be out for?

He was supposed to be back towards the end of November but suffered a vague "setback", delaying his return till December. When in December is anyone's guess.

Devastating news that Holding's season is likely over.

Might be time to call Chambers back.
I was happy overall with our we did last night but it shows how we missed Xhaka

He’s in a great run of form. What do you guys see as his weakness ? Do you think if he was a bit taller and stronger it would help his game at all ?

no, put your wallet away Jack, that was too easy

Nope, his lower centre of gravity is what allows him to get away from his markers offensively. He's got a great shooting technique unlike busquets and he is very wuick over 2 yards. Height would help him to combat aerially but would take away his ability to change directional with/without the ball which is a big part of his game.

Expect all the big teams to come for him in a years time.

He is the best player in his position in the world in my humble opinion, although he does lack the concentration level defensively of a busquets, but only just and i believe it is because he hasn't played at the highest level for that long and i's very young
